How do I unzip the downloaded font files?

All fonts available for download from FontMagic.com come as compressed zip files. This is to conserve bandwidth and facilitate quicker download of the files. Also, sometimes, font creators and designers want additional files to be downloaded with the font. These files can be variants of the main font, instructions file, image file, details file etc. So it is but natural to pile everything up together as a compressed zip.

To unzip the downloaded font file, you need an unzipping program/software. The two popular ones are WinZip and WinRAR. Get a latest copy of one of the program from its web site and install it on your computer.

If you are working under Windows XP operating system, an unzipping utility is built-in the system so you do need a dedicated program for uncompression (unless you wish to).

If you have freshly installed an unzipping program, you will notice that all the zip files now carry that program's icon. Double-click on a zip file and it will open in the uncompression software. Follow instructions of the software (these would be prety simple) to unzip the file it to a directory and you are done!

IMPORTANT: I suggest that you unzip all fonts to a temporary folder because once you install them on your system, they are no longer required and you can remove them from that directory.
